The clutch assemby in a vehicle consists of a three main parts – a wearable friction disc, a pressure plate and a release bearing. These are help transfer the power of the engine and flywheel into the gearbox and on to the wheels. The clutch has contact from the flywheel as well as the pressure plate so there is a lot of stress put on this part.
Depending on how well they are designed from the manufacturer and how the car has been driven in its lifetime clutches can wear very quickly or can last a lifetime. It all depends on the stress it has seen.
If any part of your Clutch assmebly is on the way out our advice is to replace a clutch as a kit as it works out much cheaper in the long run.
